[ was this a silly thing to do? if it was, falco was already doing it because it felt right to. he shakes his head, but only a mild side to side, as to not undo the scarf hiding his jaws, and instead uses his hand to better emphasis. ]
My name is Falco Grice, I live with Mister Erwin. [ and from his messenger bag, he pulls out a notebook, one that was in erwin's possession not too long ago after the disappearances. ] Both of you used this to find us, so, [ he gestures, and the hand that holds the book falls to his side, ] I wanted to thank you. For that and for everything after.
[ he recognizes the effort and his ears are beginning to turn a light pink— but he's grateful and wants to show it, even when such a simple thing like talking seems like an effort. words that require more use of lip-shaping come off slurred and odd, as if he couldn't move his mouth enough for the sound to come fluidly. he couldn't for the most part. ]

Falco! Yeah, yeah; Erwin was really worried for you. Oh man, the talk Erwin and I had when we— [ and this is where daylight is smart enough to stop himself, knowing that maybe it’s for the best they won’t dwell too hard about that period. ]
Yeah. It’s nice to meet you proper, buddy. Erwin seems super fond of you so any friend of his is a friend of mine! I’m... [ he pauses, needing to consider his words. it’ll be a lie to say he’s doing okay because, well, that’s not the case at all. judging by the speech and the scarf, something happened like what happened to kiara and okuyasu and agatha.
in the end, he goes with a genuine: ] I’m glad you and the others are with us again. We did whatever we could to get you guys back soon as possible.
[ he tries to bring some levity to the conversation by grinning broadly, exaggeratedly rotating his right arm to show off how stiff it is. ] Though I don't think anyone can top Wrathion's attempt to try and take on the entire police station at the start. He was super worried for his friend, Anduin.
[ he's never letting that go, wrathion. ]

I haven’t met them yet, but I’ll remember their names. [ and how someone named wrathion took on the entire police station. wow. ] I’m glad, too.
[ and to be here, at this moment! anyway, there was something else. ]
Can I help you with anything inside still?
no subject
[ because he needs a lot of help. he finally finishes pushing the trash bags into the can, shoving the trash can over them. he makes sure to press down on the lid a few seconds, pressing down to try and keeping the bags at bay.
when he’s sure it won’t be a jack-in-a-box, garbage version, he explains what he means: ]
If you don’t mind doing this sort of stuff, the biggest thing I need help in is inventory. I want to make sure the next time something happens— [ because it will happen, daylight is certain of it. ] —and I know right off the bat if we have enough supplies or materials to give.
no subject
Is it inside or should I—?
[ he points to the street, indicating if he should be fetching anything and seems absolutely delighted to be doing either for daylight. ]

one of the biggest issues of being around humans again is adjusting to all the human text he has to read. writing is easy for him but reading back, especially small text or big words, is a challenge. it's caused a roadblock for him in terms of inventory as shown with the impressive piles of items and boxes in different rooms and in the hallway they step into. ]
Most of it has already been sorted in the boxes as you can see on the coffee table in the living room. I threw in stuff together first by type of stuff for non-medicine things and by shape and design of bottles for medicine thing. The text is too fuuuuuudging hard for me to read, let alone take confident notes on.
[ though there is one downside to this arrangement: him needing to be careful with his langauge. he's gotten so used to having a foul mouth, thanks to nightbreak and emer, that he needs to keep himself in check when talking.
he knows everyone comes all walks of life - agatha came in dead, for crying out loud - but daylight can't bring himself to casually curse around kids. prepare yourself for a lot of 'fudge' and 'darn', falco! ]

I'll separate them for you, Mister Daylight. And I'll write everything down, okay? [ without needing more impulsion, falco immediately gets to work with the closest items on the table; write down what it was, and separate between medical and non-medical. easy! it's work to be had, though— but that's why they call it work in the first place. he does it with pleasure, regardless! ] What kind of notes do you need?

oh no he actually wants the snacks- daylight don't you dare accidentally poison this poor boy-daylight rummages through one of the boxes that he's already done, fishing out the legal pad from his jacket - with how big daylight is, it's rather distressingly hilarious how easy he can put stuff in his jacket now - to hand over to falco, letting him see examples.
the handwriting of daylight is... interesting. it looks like he's struggling to keep his letters from being blocky, forcing himeslf to use curves for the letters like e, c, and so on. definitely a struggle for daylight to write in english but it is legible. more so when he points out what falco needs to keep an eye out for: ] For medicine, keep an eye out for the expiry date and how much we have left per packet or bottle. A lot of this stuff is new thanks to Takame's help but never hurts to make sure we're not accidentally short on something because it's a month too old to use.
[ he had that happen to him before while on a mission back home and, er, it wasn't fun, not having pain dampeners. ]
-And, really, thanks for the help, too, Falco. It means a lot. [ he sighs and allows his shoulders to slump, letting a bit of exhaustion he feels deep in his bones show. ]Now that everything seems to have settled down, I can feel my body wanting to go into Stasis- Naptime Mode but there's still a lot to do.
no subject
You can rest a little if you want, Mister Daylight. [ he was here all alone until now . . .] Is it hard to read because of your language, too?
[ it's only a guess from his own personal experience— and, the way the curves are straight. he too, would get whacked with a ruler for repeatedly doing it wrong in class when all he could keep naturally in his mind were eldian characters. ]

bless falco and everyone else who puts up with the fact they need to crane their neck to have a conversation with daylight. otherwise it'll be like talking to a literal wall (who likes to wear funky-patterned button-ups because, listen, these were the cheapest fabrics to buy when you're a giant and need custom made cloths made and you can only make so much money ferrying stuff around town and praying for tips and let's not even get to shoes-
focus, daylight. focus. got inventory to do. a house to clean. and people to entertain- including falco who had just asked a pretty interesting question. ]
You too, huh?
[ he smiles in understanding and relief, glad to hear others are having a time trying to adjust to this earth's language system, for both speaking and writing. ]
Would you find it a copout if I said my answer is in the middle? [ he waves his hand for emphasis as he easily sucks two, three boxes under one arm with relative ease. one of the few perks of being a giant, in his opinion: Less back-and-forths for things being moved around or stored away. ] Like... I grew up knowing the majority of Terran languages when I was little, thanks to my human family raising me. But then I got sent to the moon and left for space and didn't need to focus on them much. Not when I had alien languages to learn and use more often.
[ so between suddenly being around humans again and struggling to stop secondguessing himself, it's been... a time for daylight. it's a lot easier than when he first came in december but small-prints and long names like the ones on the medicines still trip him up. ]
no subject
he tries to not stop with his work, of course, but speaks softly and oddly in between: ]
You’re saying . . . Aliens are real?
[ the big headed green ones on movie posters? ]
