JUST A DREAM FROM YESTERDAY
Living Island. If ever there were a first step to stopping this madness, it’s figuring out what those words mean. But starting is always the hardest part, and with nothing else to go by than two seemingly unrelated, nonsensical words left behind by a force you can’t see much less communicate with, an already arduous task seems even more impossible. This is furthered by the reactions you get when you hit the street and start asking people if they know anything about Living Island. Most of them can only look back at you blankly, as if waiting for a punchline that never comes. Others actually take you seriously enough to consider the question, and to their credit, they do take their time racking their brains to remember where they’ve heard that name before, why it sounds so familiar. But the most you’ll get back from them is a sheepish shrug of the shoulders and a reply that it sounds like something from TV. It gets to the point where their answers blend together, each one more unremarkable than the last. Save for the one you get from the last person you haven’t asked. Living Island.

OOC INFO
Welcome to the second part of February’s event! You can use this entry to top-level for the event, but feel free to utilize the log and network communities as well.
There will be a top-level posted for NPC interaction tied to the second prompt below, wherein you can request to play out your character’s interaction with Harding or Rosemary. If you would like to have your character interact with either one of them, comment to the top-level with the name of the NPC you would like to thread with. You may only thread with one NPC. The mods will respond to NPC tags until February 28th.
Any questions can go in our FAQ thread below. Try to check and see if your question has already been answered on the plotting thread first here.

[Oh no, Erwin knows that voice, although he's never heard it like this before. He knew Papyrus had been taken, but he'd never imagined they'd do something like this to him.]
We need to get you back to Sans.
no subject
[As arguments to dissuade him from the search go, that's one of the better ones. Familiar voices in the wall are one thing, but his brother is here, for sure.]
He's okay, right?? I haven't seen him, but... you look okay.
[Not obviously injured, or talking strangely, anyways. It's still dim in these hallways.]
no subject
He's fine. We took a walk together a few days ago.
[Erwin steps in closer, taking Papyrus's arm and trying gently steer him away from the lockers and down the hallway.]
He's worried about you, though. I know he wants you home and safe.
no subject
[That answers the question of if they got caught, at least. The prospect that only some had been taken and hurt, while the others... had they gone about their normal days? The closer Erwin gets, the more Papyrus averts his gaze. It was awkward enough, as they got out of the cages and into slightly-better lit halls, to see peoples' reactions to his face. But then they'd all been injured, so the trades of pitying glances were... well, trades.]
It's been a few more days since I walked... but I haven't forgotten how.
[He doesn't otherwise resist Erwin's taking his arm, beyond the bitter grumbling. If nothing else, it's a comfort to know somebody else is there and real, not a sourceless voice or hard plastic imitation.]
no subject
[They most certainly had not gone about their normal days and lives, after they realized people were missing. It's a story Papyrus will have to hear later, though; Erwin's priority now is getting him out of here.]
Good. We'll stick together, and get ourselves out of here.
[Erwin doesn't mention Papyrus's face, nor does his gaze linger on it. He's seen plenty of horrific things, and he knows how it feels to have a deformity that makes people stare. Papyrus has never been weird about Erwin's arm, so he'll repay the favor now.]
no subject
[Papyrus has an advantage over many of the others, for taking Erwin's arm in stride - monsters come in all shapes and sizes, so he's never had a single model of how people look to compare all others to. Even the few months of all humans has only given him a delayed reaction to the sight of things like horns. But taking someone's shape as a given is easier than taking in the sight of injuries with much composure. Even with Erwin politely looking elsewhere, Papyrus is tense.
Though, much of the tension comes with the reminder that, even out of the cage, they're not safe yet. He swallows, hard, and glances back at the lockers.]
But, you're coming back here, right? To get the others...?
[Erwin said 'we', but not how many were searching, and he's lost track of all the others by now. Some had left the room with the cages at the first opportunity, getting themselves out or looking for help. Others had lingered, looking for signs it was a trap, or organizing into small groups to try to escape... It was a mess. To say nothing of the possibility some of those distant voices were real.]
no subject
Yes.
[Of that, Erwin has no doubt.]
We made a list of everyone missing. We're not leaving this area until we've found everyone and got them to safety.
[His voice hardens.]
And then, if it were left to me, we'd burn this place to the ground.
