JUST A DREAM FROM YESTERDAY
Living Island. If ever there were a first step to stopping this madness, it’s figuring out what those words mean. But starting is always the hardest part, and with nothing else to go by than two seemingly unrelated, nonsensical words left behind by a force you can’t see much less communicate with, an already arduous task seems even more impossible. This is furthered by the reactions you get when you hit the street and start asking people if they know anything about Living Island. Most of them can only look back at you blankly, as if waiting for a punchline that never comes. Others actually take you seriously enough to consider the question, and to their credit, they do take their time racking their brains to remember where they’ve heard that name before, why it sounds so familiar. But the most you’ll get back from them is a sheepish shrug of the shoulders and a reply that it sounds like something from TV. It gets to the point where their answers blend together, each one more unremarkable than the last. Save for the one you get from the last person you haven’t asked. Living Island.

OOC INFO
Welcome to the second part of February’s event! You can use this entry to top-level for the event, but feel free to utilize the log and network communities as well.
There will be a top-level posted for NPC interaction tied to the second prompt below, wherein you can request to play out your character’s interaction with Harding or Rosemary. If you would like to have your character interact with either one of them, comment to the top-level with the name of the NPC you would like to thread with. You may only thread with one NPC. The mods will respond to NPC tags until February 28th.
Any questions can go in our FAQ thread below. Try to check and see if your question has already been answered on the plotting thread first here.

For a moment, she considers the question, even though it's a pretty simple question. This also isn't helping her hide how much this situation is affecting her, laying bare the thought process where she considers taking the out and lying.
Her small smile persists as she averts her eyes, eventually answering in the negative with soft hesitation.] ...mn-nn. It hurts like... [Briefly, she trails off, her gaze a little more distant like she's searching for the words to describe it. Slowly, she settles on:] ...like something's broken.
[Telling Kiara this doesn't really make a difference, she's decided. It's not as if Kiara can't see the bandages on her head. So it's okay to say.]

...broken?
[She'll take another glance at those bandages and yeah, she really doesn't care for the sound of that at all. Though there's not really anything she can do about it, which wow. She's not used to feeling useless. Can't say she cares for it.]
I do hope we can find a way out of this soon. Then we can get you the care you need for that.

[Has she ever broken a bone, actually? That sounds like something she would have done, as clumsy as she is. But there are such huge gaps in her backstory that she's not sure; she recognizes the kind of pain as a concept, like it would fit into her backstory, but she doesn't really remember having felt it before.
Oh well. That isn't important right now. The hand that fidgets with her bandages hovers over the spot that she'd irresponsibly prodded at when she woke up, just barely brushing the layer of gauze such that she doesn't put pressure on the injury underneath. Of course, it makes sense. To get into her head, they must have had to cut into her skull, right? And that's a bone. It's different from cracking it in an accident, but it still hurts, even if they put the pieces back in place (did they? Did they do it correctly, if it was all put back? She wouldn't know the difference. That's probably something she should worry about.)
Again, her response is a bit slow.] ...yeah. Who knows if they did it right? Ahaha.
[Humorless laughter, followed by a sigh as she glances back to Kiara and her gaze lingers for a moment on the glass eye.] We're all probably gonna need a real doctor after this, huh?

[Kiara's more than willing to wait her turn in line while everyone else gets checked out. She can't say she enjoys having a glass eye now or like things don't hurt, but to her, it's so much less than what's happened to everyone else.]
I just hope there won't be even more need for their services.
[It'd be nice if things didn't get...well, any worse than they already are. Though she gets the feeling the people behind this aren't likely to stop any time soon unless there's some sort of external reason for it, like a rescue party showing up or something along those lines.]
