An ollie. I used to be really good at it, but uh... I guess I haven't really practiced in awhile.

( really practiced, as in tried without superpowers pulling his every motion into cruise control. Peter has found that missing all his powers is both a blessing and a curse. he had kinda forgot what being a normal guy was like, even though he's always tried to stay levelheaded about saving the entirety of New York on multiple occasions.

it's both nice to have some of the stress and responsibility and overwhelming expectations relieved... and it's also not nice, when he spends so much time falling off his board because he forgot how hard it was to skate once spider senses kicked in and did all the heavy lifting. )

It wasn't my best, but, landing one again feels good. ( he kicks the back of the board to jut the front of it up, catching it lazily in his fingers. ) Something to do around here is nice, even if I'm eating asphault for most of it. How's things with you?

It looked pretty impressive to me. [ and she's not just being nice because he was assigned to be her son at one point, he's not the only one who's made a habit of relying on his abilities to perform fun party tricks. she reaches him as he kicks the board into his hand, crossing her arms as she looks him over. it's been a little while since she's seen him and she feels bad for not looking out for him as much as she should have.

(in her defense, she does have a new assigned kid.) ]

They're as okay as being here gets. Our house has a new arrival, a girl named Sayori. What about you?

It's not the easiest trick, but if you practice it isn't so bad. I just haven't really practiced.

( it used to be something he did all the time. his body had the movements memorized. it was the punctuation point of all sorts of grinds and tricks. and somewhere in the sudden onset of superpowers, his muscle memory seems to have gotten a little faded. it's sad to think about it like that, but it also makes it empowering to finally make the old trick stick. )

Sayori... I think we've met. Both... recently, and not recently. ( Peter grimaces, because it's so hard to explain, but of all people, Lorna would understand. ) I met her like I met you. Only not when I met you. But she seems nice, it's cool she's got you to look after her.

( is that presumptive?? ?? ?? maybe. but Lorna seems like the protective type, and Sayori seems like someone who could really use that. ) I'm okay. I got a job. ( he kicks a pebble along the sidewalk, before adding, ) My not-dad disappeared. Nobody in town seems to remember he ever existed.
