Oh. I see... [ noelle allows her face to fall at the realization that she won’t be able to get anything back soon. on the outside it looks like she’s trying to keep her disappointment from being too obvious.

on the inside, she curses her luck because fuck. of course it won’t be that easy to hack or to monitor or anything like. of course.

she wants to ask how slowly it’ll be, just to get an idea of what she can and can’t do for the next fuck-knows-how-long, but she knows better than to push her luck. not when there are those weirdly smiling people milling about the hallways, occasionally poking their heads down the hallway to smile at them with their too-wide grins before leaving. ]

Thank you for being honest with me, Peter. [ she smiles sadly at him but it’s a genuine smile, apparently, and she seems relieved to know she can trust him about their shared situation. ]

I was hoping to be a lot more useful in the future. Math is good and all but so is being a team player! [ she smiles and rubs the back of her neck, like she knows that was pretty goofy. ] If I ever get back the ability to see really well in the dark, I’ll let you know so you have a lookout buddy for night photography!

[ might as well try to endear herself and look useful in some capacity. right now, noelle can only sketch out the .comm devices they were all given and try to guess what could be stored in it. ]

( he breathes a bit of a sigh, before he nods. honesty is not always something that he's brave enough to be, but, looking back on how things went with Harry... maybe things would have been different if he'd been honest about who Spider-Man was in the first place. maybe, maybe, maybe. it's worth a try, at least. baby steps, right? )

So they tell me. I got kicked off the trivia team in Midtown for being a bad team player. ( he had only been interested in science questions questions and was never very helpful with anything else. Peter's team spirit did need a lot of work, he was too much of a lone wolf for his own good. for anyone's good, perhaps. )

You could see in the dark, huh? That's cool. And it could be handy for ... night photography, for sure. ( that intentional pause was a subtle indicator that he means more than just photography — this place is a puzzle, and it's obvious there's more just beneath the shining veneer of Santa Rosita. sneaking around trying to find answers was easier to manage under cover of dark.

he snaps one last picture, just for good measure, before deciding, ) I think I've got one. I should go find my boss, and hope that he's not going to spend two more hours being shocked that girls can do math. I don't think I can handle much more.
